We are delighted to have been appointed by Waddesdon C of E School to construct their new Sixth Form Centre. Design is well underway in preparation for the groundbreaking ceremony in March. The new building will improve and consolidate the current Sixth Form facilities, providing space for supervised group study, teaching, and a lecture theatre / performing arts space.
The new classroom block has been completed and handed over to the school, ready for the new term in January. This design and build project achieved BREEAM Excellent and is the second facility Edgar Taylor have successfully delivered for the College. The four new classrooms are an important part of the College's five-year strategy.
The Edgar Taylor Team are delighted to be attending the opening of the Bletchley Park Block E Learning Centre on the 19th October. Block E, once the communications hub of wartime Bletchley Park, has been refurbished and repurposed by Edgar Taylor Construction to create two new resources. The Block E Learning Centre, which includes eight learning spaces able to accommodate learners from primary school pupils to students in higher education, and The Fellowship Auditorium, a state-of-the-art presentation and event space.
Edgar Taylor Construction joined Fairhive Homes to celebrate the completion of Anstey Court in Waddesdon. The design and build scheme delivered by Edgar Taylor comprises 16 new build independent living flats. With the environment in mind and in consideration of increasing energy prices the flats have achieved an EPC rating of A.
Edgar Taylor Construction are delighted to have been appointed by Bletchley Park Trust, to deliver their new learning centre. Located within the heart of the Bletchley Park Heritage Site the project involves the careful refurbishment, repurposing and restoration of a WWII building, to create a modern learning centre.
An extension houses a new purpose-built lecture theatre and external spaces are reconfigured to provide coach bays and safe access for the visiting staff and students.
We are delighted to announce The Story Museum in Oxford has won an RIBA South Award.
This former 1930s telephone exchange and 19th century master’s house was converted into The Story Museum by Edgar Taylor Construction, and now celebrates stories for a range of audiences.
It was also great to see the project made the front cover of the RIBA Journal this month.
Congratulations to the whole team who collaborated to deliver the project.
Construction of the new pre-prep school and nursery in Moulsford is now well underway and the school are delighted to see the facilities beginning to take shape. The timber frame structure is nearing completion and roofing works are progressing quickly to enable fit out works to commence in the new year. Works are on schedule to complete next summer ready for the start of the autumn term.

This project was completed by Edgar Taylor some time ago but with the impact of Covid-19 it has only now been possible to arrange some professional photos to showcase the finished building. The centre incorporates a wide range of facilities including a café, meeting rooms and a large function room as well as toilets & changing areas. A large V-Shaped roof to the central area creates a striking appearance to this fantastic new community asset.

This was a very challenging project with significant site constraints, but the final result is a credit to the hard work of everyone that made it possible. The new clubhouse and buggy store at Stowe Golf Club is now complete. Constructed in just six months over the summer, the new facility houses a new open plan lounge area, state of the art golf simulator, locker room and associated changing facilities.
Works are underway at last to construct a new pre-prep school & nursery in Moulsford, on a greenfield site opposite the existing Moulsford Prep School. The project was originally secured early in 2020 but unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic was then put on hold before works had commenced. Edgar Taylor Construction have been appointed as Main Contractor on a Design and Build basis. The new school is due to be open for the start of the 2022 autumn term.

Admiral Holland Close has been shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Best Affordable Housing Development (less than £5m)’ category at this years’ Inside Housing Awards. The development of 14 properties on a brownfield site in Banbury was completed by Edgar Taylor Construction in 2020 for one of our regular clients, Cherwell District Council.
Edgar Taylor Construction has secured three new projects for one of our regular clients, Stowe School. To be completed over the summer, the projects involve the construction of a new golf clubhouse and buggy store, expansion of the existing day house facilities, and historic restoration works to the menagerie.
Our latest project at Summer Fields school has now been completed and we are absolutely thrilled with the final results. Involving extensive alterations and renovations, spread across multiple work zones, the school have created a stunning new library complete with mezzanine floor, a learning support centre and several new classrooms. The 19th Century chapel was also fully restored. Despite the challenges faced in delivering the project right in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, it was delivered on time and on budget. It was a pleasure to work with the client and their team to realise their vision.
We are pleased to announce that Edgar Taylor (Buckingham) Ltd have been selected as Main Contractor to construct 25 new homes at Graven Hill Village in Bicester. We are excited to have an opportunity to work on this high-profile development and are providing the homes under a Design & Build contract, in association with LMR designs and John Duddell Associates.
The end is now in sight at our project at Holy Trinity Church, Hazlemere. Church Vicar, Mark Meardon, recently returned to site to create a follow up video to the one he produced back in summer 2020 at the start of the project. Things have come a long way since then and you can really see the new spaces starting to take shape that together will form the new Trinity Centre community hub.
We are pleased to announce completion of another successful project for Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust. This small development on the outskirts of the village of Chearsley in Buckinghamshire involved the demolition of existing properties on the site and construction for five new dwellings, comprising a terrace of four 2/3-bed properties and one large detached 4-bed property..

We are pleased to announce that Edgar Taylor (Buckingham) Ltd have been selected as Main Contractor to build a new Science and IT classroom block for Moulton School and Science College in Northampton. Architectural, Structural and Building Services design, as well as Building Surveying services, are all being provided by Ridge & Partners LLP, Birmingham.
This small development of four properties is one of two projects Edgar Taylor (Buckingham) have been contracted to build for Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust. The second project, located in Chearsley, is nearing completion and scheduled for handover later in the autumn.
The keys have been handed over for our most recently completed project for Cherwell District Council, situated on the former site of the Admiral Holland Pub. The development of 14 new dwellings contains a mixture of rental properties and new homes for private sale.
We have just completed this striking new classroom block for Chenderit School. Designed by Acanthus Clews Architects, the two storey building houses eight new classrooms and, despite extensive delays in the ground and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, it was completed on time for the start of the new school year.
Edgar Taylor have secured the contract to construct a small extension at St Mary the Virgin Church in Weston Turville. The project involves the provision of a meeting room and wc facilities with a new internal access to the main church, designed by project Architects Caroe & Partners. Work on site is due to commence on site in September with completion in spring 2021.
Works have recently commenced to construct the new Trinity Centre at Holy Trinity Church, Hazlemere. The works involve the complete renovation and extension of the existing church to provide a new community hub for the people of Hazlemere. Church Vicar, Mark Meardon, has created a fantastic video showing the progress to date and describing the facilities and services that will be provided.
After six weeks in lockdown, our project at the former site of the Admiral Holland pub in Banbury is back up and running again and works are progressing well with the new Covid Secure working practices in place. The effort and commitment shown by the whole team to embrace the changes and get the project back on track has been really impressive. The development, on behalf of Cherwell District Council, consists of eight new 2/3 bed houses and six one bed flats. It is now in its final stages with completion scheduled for the end of the summer.
Works have now commenced on an exciting new project at Summer Fields School, Oxford. The existing 'New Room' is due to undergo a spectacular transformation to become the school's new library, complete with an independent mezzanine level within the existing hall. The project also includes the creation of several new classrooms, a learning support centre and complete restoration of the Chapel which dates back to the late 19th century. Completion is scheduled for Spring 2021.

To ensure the safety of our colleagues and the wider community Edgar Taylor have undertaken risk assessments and implemented procedures which allowed our projects to be safely restarted on Monday 4th May 2020. These procedures have been carefully developed and implemented to enable compliance with version 4 of the Safe Operating Procedures published by the Construction Leadership Council, plus the Government guidance document on Working Safely During Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Construction & Other Outdoor Work.
The Edgar Taylor team have been busy working on this exciting project since the end of 2018. Works to update and extend the Story Museum in Oxford city centre were completed earlier in the year and with the construction phase over preparations were well underway for a grand re-opening. Unfortunately the Covid 19 pandemic meant that this has been delayed until later in 2020. However, as soon as restrictions are lifted the museum will be ready to welcome new visitors of all ages to come and see the inspiring and enchanting spaces that have been created within...
Edgar Taylor (Buckingham) Ltd are now underway with construction of the new Aston Clinton Community Centre near Aylesbury. The new centre replaces an existing facility with a modern design by Hayward Smart Architects. Accommodation includes changing and storage facilities, the park café, and a multi-function hall and meeting rooms. Completion is scheduled for Autumn 2021.

Works to The Hill Community Centre in Banbury for Cherwell District Council are now complete and a wide range of new community activities will be commencing at the centre shortly. The new facility replaces an old youth club that had stood on the site for many years and will be a great asset for the local community, providing a much larger modern space with greater flexibility of use. The centre will be operated by Banbury Community Church.
The newly refurbished and extended Newton Lodge building at Summerfields School, designed by Oxford Architects and completed by Edgar Taylor this summer, has received a letter of commendation at this years' Oxford Preservation Trust awards. Our congratulations to entire the project team.

The children at Bletchingdon School had a surprise visit on 15th February from The Prince of Wales. The school and adjoining village hall were completed in 2015 by Edgar Taylor (Buckingham) Ltd for the Prince's estate, the Duchy of Cornwall.

Edgar Taylor have been employed by Stowe School, a selective independent school in Stowe, Buckinghamshire, to create two new day houses to accommodate up to 150 Day Pupils. The project commences on site this month and is scheduled for completion ahead of the start of the 2019 Autumn term.

This year’s Oxford Preservation Trust awards saw two projects built by Edgar Taylor being recognised for their contribution to the built environment in Oxford. The Perrodo Project at St Peters College was nominated in the new build category and the re-roofing of the Matthews Building, also at St Peters College, was nominated in the small projects category.
We are delighted to announce that Edgar Taylor have been appointed as main contractor to complete the next phase in the development of The Story Museum, Oxford. An unusual concept in the heart of the city, the museum is centred around the joy of storytelling and 'celebrates the many ways that people benefit from engaging with great stories and creating stories of their own'. This is the second phase of the Museum's grand plans and is known to the creative team behind the project as 'Chapter 2'. It combines creative and heritage spaces that, once complete, will enable the museum to attract and entertain over 100,000 visitors per year.
Two projects constructed by Edgar Taylor (Buckingham) Ltd have been shortlisted for awards at this year's AJ Architecture Awards. St Michael's Threshold in Oxford by Adrian James Architects and the Hubert Perrodo Building at St Peter's College, Oxford, by Design Engine, have been shortlisted in the Community and Faith Project of the Year and Higher Education Project of the Year categories respectively. Winners will be announced on 4th December 2018.
Edgar Taylor (Buckingham) Ltd have been awarded the contract for the design and construction of a new community centre in Bretch Hill, Banbury for Cherwell District Council. We will be working with Walker Graham Architects and Solid Structures to deliver the project, which is due to commence on site late November 2018 and be completed during Autumn 2019.
A new octagonal science laboratory being constructed by Edgar Taylor at Pipers Corner School, Buckinghamshire, is nearing completion ready for the start of the new term. On a recent site visit project Architect Mark Webber, of Nichols Brown Webber LLP, took the opportunity to test his drone flying and photography skills. We think the results are quite impressive!
Set in the stunning Buckinghamshire countryside just on the outskirts of Drayton Parslow near Milton Keynes, this project involves the conversion and extension of four existing barns into high quality residential properties.
The final finishes are progressing well internally, and the site team are hoping the fine weather continues so they can complete the extensive external works later this summer.
Our congratulations to the entire Perrodo Project team on receipt of this prestigious award from the RIBA! Describing the new building at St Peter's College, Oxford as 'small but perfectly formed', the judges also commented that the design is 'a fusion of refined composition and fine craftsmanship' and demonstrates 'a beautiful and bewitching architecture of great purity and finesse'.
We are delighted to announce that the Hubert Perrodo Building at St Peter's College, Oxford, completed by Edgar Taylor at the beginning of the year, is one of twelve projects that have been shortlisted for the RIBA South 2018 awards. The shortlisted buildings are to be assessed by a regional jury with the winning buildings announced at an awards evening in London in May.
February saw the completion of the new Hubert Perrodo Building at St Peter's College, Oxford. The stunning new four storey building, named after the late Hubert Perrodo (1944-2006) is the centre piece of the Perrodo Project, which Edgar Taylor have been involved with in two phases over several years.
Rounding off what has been a very successful year for Warwick Hall Community Centre, the project collected two further awards at the inaugural AJ Architecture Awards 2017 held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 7th December 2017. Acanthus Clews Architects were selected as winner of the Heritage Project of the Year category followed by an unexpected surprise at the end of the night, being announced as the overall 'Design of the Year' winner! Edgar Taylor are extremely proud to have been the main contractor for the project and extend our warmest congratulations to the team at Acanthus Clews Architects.
Following the completion of internal re-ordering by Edgar Taylor over the summer, St Mary Magdalene's Church in Woodstock was officially re-opened to the congregation on 11th December 2017. Despite facing the challenges of limited access and a very tight programme, the project was successfully completed on time and on budget.
On 4th October 2017, Amersham United Charities officially opened the newly renovated Miss Day's Almshouses in Amersham. The project to fully renovate and enlarge the existing nine properties to provide seven modernised and spacious dwellings was completed in three phases to minimise disruption to the existing residents. All work was carried out using a single site access way just over a meter wide!
Work has now been completed on Phase 2 of the extension to Bartlett's Residential Care Home in Aylesbury, adding a further thirteen bedrooms to the original fourteen rooms previously completed by Edgar Taylor. Bartlett's is situated in 18 acres of private tranquil parkland with superb views across the Chiltern Hills. The extension, now officially named 'The Hambledon Wing', includes luxury Five Star rooms, a library, home cinema and landscaped gardens.
Edgar Taylor will shortly be commencing work on site at another exciting new project. The 150-year-old Summer Fields School in Oxford is expanding, building a 'pre-prep' school on their existing Summertown site to accommodate boys from four to seven years of age. The project, designed by Oxford Architects, involves extensive alterations and renovations to the existing Newton Lodge building plus a contemporary copper-clad two storey extension building. It will house learning and library spaces as well as indoor and outdoor play spaces. Completion is planned for summer 2018.
Successfully completed just in time for the start of the new school year, this new 4 classroom extension to the existing Haddenham St Mary's Church of England Primary School was finished to a high specification in a very tight timescale. A very big thank you to all involved who helped ensure that the children could move into their bright and colourful new classrooms as planned.
The list of accolades for Warwick Hall Community Centre continues to grow, having just been announced the winner of the New Buildings Category at the Civic Voice Design Awards 2017. The judges commented 'Warwick Hall is a wonderful example of what contemporary architecture can achieve within a highly sensitive historic locations. Bold, but sympathetic to its surroundings, the final design seamlessly integrates old and new and the community building has a beautiful composition and sense of space'.
Following on from the success at the RIBA regional awards, the project has now picked up a Royal Institute of British Architects National Award. This is indeed an incredible achievement for all involved.

Following on from the recent success at the 2017 RICS awards, Warwick Hall Community Centre has now won further accolades at the 2017 RIBA awards. The project received the RIBA South Award 2017 and RIBA South Conservation Award 2017.
The RICS Awards 2017 (South East) were held in Southampton on 17th May and we are pleased to announce that Warwick Hall Community Centre in Burford, designed by Acanthus Clews Architects, was Highly Commended in the Building Conservation category. Our congratulations to all the other winners and our thanks to all those who helped make the project a success.

The Perrodo Project (Phase 1) was recently completed at St Peter's College, Oxford, and Edgar Taylor are due to commence work on site for phase 2 of the project in the very near future.
Work has now commenced on phase 2 of the Perrodo Project at St Peter's College, Oxford. Once completed, the project will provide the College with new flexible teaching spaces and also upgrade and expand the existing conference facilities. The Architects for the project are Design Engine Architects Ltd of Winchester and the project is being managed by Waterman Project Management.
We are pleased to announce that Edgar Taylor have achieved formal accreditation of our Occupational Health & Safety Management System (BS OHSAS 18001 : 2007) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 : 2004).

Edgar Taylor have successfully completed and handed over a new primary school and village hall at Bletchingdon, Oxfordshire. The high specification £3.7m scheme was built on behalf of The Duchy of Cornwall.
Following our successful certification to ISO 9001 standard in 2013 the Edgar Taylor management team have committed to bolting on certification to both ISO 18001 and OHS 14001 standards to further enhance our Business Management Systems. First stage audits have been completed and we are programmed to achieve full certification of these additional standards in the Summer of 2016.
